1. Introduction & Product Identity

Voquy is a real-time speech-to-text, transcription, translation, summarization, and AI assistance service provided primarily through a Chrome browser extension and web dashboard. This policy explains how we handle your data to provide these features.

2. Data We Collect and Process

To provide our services, we collect and process the following information:
  • Account Data: Email address, name (if provided), and unique user identifiers (managed securely via our authentication provider).
  • Billing Data: Subscription status and billing metadata (managed via our payment processor).
  • Usage Data: Session duration, plan type, used minutes/seconds, and basic technical logs required for security and debugging.
  • Audio Data: Audio captured from the active browser tab during a session. Microphone audio is captured only when you explicitly enable the microphone feature.
  • Text Data: Transcribed text, translations, generated AI summaries, and AI assistance comments or code explanations.
  • Images: Screenshots or image regions of the active tab, captured only when you explicitly use the Screenshot or AI assistance features.
  • Technical Data: Device authorizations, extension installation identifiers, and authentication tokens.

3. Local Browser Storage (History)

To provide features such as the Library and the ability to export your transcripts, the Voquy extension may save your transcriptions, summaries, and session history locally in your browser.

This local history remains exclusively on your device/browser unless you explicitly use features that send this content to our servers for processing (e.g., AI assistance or translation).

You may remove locally stored extension data by clearing the extension data or site data from your browser settings.

4. Server Processing

Audio, text, and images may be sent to Voquy servers and our third-party processors only to deliver the functionality you requested.

We do not use your audio, transcripts, screenshots, or AI prompts for advertising or to sell user data. We process this data strictly to provide the requested transcription, translation, summarization, screenshot, and AI assistance features.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Voquy and support core features such as authentication, billing, hosting, transcription, translation, and AI-powered assistance. These providers may process data only as needed to deliver their respective services on our behalf.
  • authentication and account management providers
  • billing and payment processing providers
  • hosting and secure storage providers
  • transcription providers, when transcription features are used
  • translation providers, when translation features are enabled
  • AI service providers, when AI-powered features are used
  • website analytics providers, when you accept analytics cookies on the public website

6. Website Analytics

Voquy may use Google Analytics on the public website to understand visits and conversion.
  • Google Analytics is not used inside the Voquy Chrome extension.
  • Google Analytics is not used to analyze audio, transcripts, screenshots, AI prompts, or saved conversations.
  • You can reject non-essential analytics in the website banner. If you reject, analytics remains in denied consent mode and non-essential analytics storage is not granted.

7. Chrome Web Store & Limited Use Compliance

Voquy adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
  • Data obtained through the extension is used solely to provide or improve user-facing features.
  • Your data is never sold.
  • Your data is not used for advertising.
  • Your data is not transferred to third parties, except to processors strictly necessary to operate the service.
  • Your data is not used to determine creditworthiness, employment, insurance, or other sensitive, unrelated purposes.
  • We do not use your personal data to train our own models. Our third-party AI and transcription providers operate under agreements that restrict the use of API data for their own generalized model training, though policies may vary by provider.

8. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Voquy extension requires the following permissions to function:
  • tabCapture: To capture audio from the active tab when you explicitly start a session.
  • Microphone: To capture your voice (only when you explicitly enable the microphone feature).
  • storage: To save your preferences, session state, authentication tokens, and local transcript history.
  • downloads: To allow you to export and save your transcripts or summaries as local files.
  • scripting / activeTab: To display the session overlay and interact with the active tab solely for user-facing product features.
  • offscreen: To reliably process audio streams in the background while the extension is active.

9. Data Retention

  • Audio & Transcriptions: Audio and text sent to our servers for processing are retained only for the time necessary to deliver the requested functionality, except for minimal technical logs required for security and debugging.
  • Local History: Data saved locally in your browser remains there until you delete it or clear your browser data.
  • Account & Billing: Account, billing, and usage metadata are maintained as long as your account exists, and for the period required to fulfill billing, security, support, and legal obligations.
  • Technical Logs: System logs are retained for a limited period strictly for diagnostics, security monitoring, and abuse prevention.

10. Data Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your data:
  • Extension Settings: You can restore extension settings/preferences using the "Reset" option in the Monitor page. This does not delete saved conversations or local transcript history.
  • Saved Conversations: You can remove saved conversations directly from the Library using the "Delete" action.
  • Browser-Stored Local Data: Data stored locally in your browser may also be removed if you clear browser data or uninstall the extension.
  • Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and associated billing/usage data by contacting our support.
To request account deletion or if you have privacy-related questions, please contact us at contact@voquy.com.

11. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption for data in transit between your browser and our servers. Access to our infrastructure and databases is strictly controlled and limited to authorized personnel.
